2015 Compost Your Combustibles Program

The popular "Compost Your Combustibles" program will re-open Saturday May 16 through Sunday July 19, 2015. Residents can dump yard waste materials such as pine cones and pine needles for free at the Heavenly Boulder Lodge parking lot.  See details below:

·         WHERE: Heavenly Boulder Lodge parking lot

·         WHEN: Dumping is open from Saturday May 16th – Sunday July 19th from 8am-5pm 7 days a week.

·         WHAT: Allowable materials for dumping are pine needles, pine cones and cut materials.

·         SPECIAL NOTES: Grass clippings and wooden construction debris are prohibited. All materials for dumping must be removed from plastic bags.

This program is made possible by the cooperative efforts between the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, South Tahoe Refuse, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Kingsbury General Improvement District, and the Tahoe Village Homeowners Association.

The Residential Open Burning program will NOT be opening for spring 2015.

Curbside Chipping Program 2015 Season

The Curbside Chipping Program will resume again in May 2015. We are now accepting chipping requests. 

Please review the attached chipping information sheet and complete the request form. Please return the form:

Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad Explosive Amnesty

                                 Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad Explosive Amnesty Week     
 Now through May 1, 2013 the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad will be offering free and anonymous pick up of any explosives. This service is offered to residents of Douglas County, City of South Lake Tahoe, and Carson City.

People in those areas can call Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District at 775-588-3591. Information will be requested about the materials to be collected, including the address where the materials are stored. A certified bomb technician will respond to remove and destroy the hazardous materials. 

Items included in the amnesty program include: Explosives, fireworks, ammunition (new or old), black powder, smokeless powder, and military ordnance.
