Emergency Medical Services
EMS accounts for 70%-80% of all alarms in the fire service. For the most part, the fire service has met this challenge, and TDFPD has led the way in the Tahoe Basin being the first agency to offer paramedic level response in 1983.
TDFPD fully staffs two paramedic ambulances, centrally located within the District. These units are stationed at both the Round Hill and Zephyr Cove Fire Stations. If needed, a third ambulance can be quickly staffed and responed by on duty personnel.
The remaining two fire stations (Kingsbury and Glenbrook) have engine companies that are ILS (Intermediate Life Support) staffed and equipped. All personnel are trained to a minimum EMT-D (defibrillation) level.
